The aggregated statistics collected from 2016 up to now show that there has been a great quantity of dragon fruit of Vietnam exported to the world’s most populous country through border gates. According to reports from departments of Industry and Trade of bordering provinces of Lang Son, Lao Cai, Ha Giang, Quang Ninh, the majority of exported dragon fruit is from Binh Thuan province.
To boost further consumption of Binh Thuan’s dragon fruit in the Chinese market, authorities and functional bodies of Binh Thuan province have encouraged and given support to local enterprises in exporting this advantageous product via official quota to China by sea or railway. Therefore, much more dragon fruit supply will be provided for China’s eastern provinces/cities, like Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Shenzhen, Zhejiang …, as well as inland provinces of China, in order to cut cross-border export volume. On the other hand, Binh Thuan authorities will work with the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade) to help Binh Thuan Dragon Fruit Association and local enterprises take part in International Trade Fairs in association with market surveys in Chinese cities. Basing on a national program on trade promotion, Binh Thuan’s dragon fruit exhibition booths will be set up at Vietnam-China and China-Vietnam International Trade fairs.
Department of Binh Thuan and concerning agencies will work hard to update new information about mechanism, policies, and the development of cross-border trade activities between Vietnam and China via two-side border gates, especially dragon fruit exportation, so that they can offer predictions and orientations for dragon fruit producers as well as support enterprises to export their products to China through different border gates to avoid goods congestion.
