BTO - On February 20th afternoon, the Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Phan Van Dang, along with representatives of several departments and sectors, conducted a field survey and listened to a report on the operational situation of the Ilmenite - Zircon concentrating plant, invested by GPM Co., Ltd. in Hoa Thang commune, Bac Binh district.

During the field survey at the plant, Vice Chairman Phan Van Dang, and the working delegation inspected and visited the Ilmenite and Zircon concentrating process from the raw material processing stage to the finished product stage.

Over the years, the plant has made significant investments in processing technology, machinery, and equipment to improve product quality and minimize environmental impact. Notably, the most remarkable equipment is the X-ray fluorescence analyzer, originating from Switzerland, which analyzes the chemical composition and minerals in titanium ore. The plant’s laboratory has also met the Vilas standard of the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Mr. Ngo Quang Anh, Deputy General Director of GPM Co., Ltd. (on the right), briefed the provincial leaders on the plant’s operational situation.

Providing information to the working delegation, Mr. Ngo Quang Anh, Deputy General Director of GPM Co., Ltd., stated: “After 10 years of operation, the company has achieved many positive results, with processing revenue exceeding 2,000 billion VND, and import-export value reaching over 1,000 billion VND. In 2023, the average income of employees at the company was 21.4 million VND per month, nearly a 200% increase compared to 2013.”

The plant has an annual capacity of 100,000 tons with a total investment of about 130 billion VND.

It is known that the plant started operating in 2013. It is a modern ore concentrating plant with a relatively large scale and a total investment of about 130 billion VND. The annual operating capacity is approximately 100,000 tons. After more than 10 years of positive results, GPM Co., Ltd. currently aims to expand the plant scale to increase processing capacity.

Regarding this issue, Mr. Ngo Quang Anh, Deputy General Director of GPM MTV Company Limited, also proposed that the provincial leadership pay early attention and support certain issues related to adjusting the investment project, increasing the capacity of the factory from 100,000 tons per year to 300,000 tons per year; increasing the investment capital from 130 billion VND to 250 billion VND using the company’s capital sources. At the same time, the representative of GPM Company also highlighted the difficulties regarding the input materials for Ilmenite and Zircon ore selection, as the company currently does not have a Titan mining site.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Phan Van Dang made a statement during the working session. After hearing the report on the operational situation, advantages, and challenges of the Ilmenite-Zircon ore selection plant and the opinions and suggestions of departments and sectors, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Phan Van Dang praised the effective production and business efforts of the plant.

The provincial leadership emphasized that the plant has contributed significantly to addressing the local employment needs of the residents. Additionally, the plant was urged to focus on environmental protection during its operations and prevent any environmental incidents throughout the process.

Regarding the proposal to expand the capacity, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Phan Van Dang agreed with and approved this proposal. However, the provincial leadership noted that during the completion of the investment project adjustment dossier for the plant, GPM Company must conduct a comprehensive and scientific environmental impact assessment; provide a complete and specific report on the origin and land use planning of the plant; ensure water sources for production immediately after expanding the capacity. All these procedures must comply with legal regulations, and after expanding the capacity, the plant must operate efficiently, avoiding resource wastage.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee also requested that relevant departments, sectors, and local authorities thoroughly review the documents before submitting them to the provincial leadership for approval of the proposal to upgrade the Ilmenite-Zircon ore selection plant of GPM MTV Company Limited in Binh Thuan province.
