Accordingly, compared to last year’s plan (welcoming 6.72 million visitors and achieving revenue of 16,500 trillion VND), the basic targets in the tourism sector set for 2024 by the industry are outstanding. However, with the current conditions and reality, the goal of welcoming a high number of visitors as well as maintaining the top position in revenue from tourism activities to Binh Thuan is feasible, although there are still many difficulties and challenges ahead.

Looking back at the past year, Binh Thuan as a destination has shown strong progress by taking advantage of many favorable factors: Hosting the National Tourism Year 2023 “Binh Thuan - Green Convergence,” the expressway sections Dau Giay - Phan Thiet and Phan Thiet - Vinh Hao officially put into operation, effectively promoting the strengths of sea and island tourism, etc. With vibrant activities throughout the year, the local tourism industry has recorded very impressive results: The entire province welcomed 8.35 million visitors with a total revenue of 22,300 trillion VND, representing an approximately 46% increase in the number of visitors and a 63% increase in revenue compared to the previous year.
The provincial People’s Committee leaders handed out lucky money to tourists arriving in Binh Thuan at Phan Thietrailway Station on the first day of the Lunar New Year 2024.
It is known that to attract a high number of visitors and maintain the “top position” in revenue this year, the local tourism industry will implement promotional activities in key international markets to quickly recover the foreign visitor market to Binh Thuan. Additionally, there will be continued research and development of sustainable tourism or destinations in the mountains, forests - waterfalls - lakes, and gardens to contribute to the diversity and richness of tourist destinations as well as leverage the strengths of the region. Furthermore, there will be an enhancement of specialized management to ensure the best environment for tourism activities and to establish and maintain the image of Binh Thuan as a destination that is “Safe - friendly - attractive - quality.”
Building on the success of the past year and affirming the image of sustainable tourism development in Vietnam, the Organizing Committee of the Visit Vietnam Year 2023 has proposed to the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to continue selecting Binh Thuan to host a number of events and major activities of the Ministry, the National Tourism Administration to create conditions for the locality to promote development, tourism promotion, and attract tourists domestically and internationally.
