Integrating Value Chains to Create Compelling Tourism Products
Each region and locality has its own strengths in terms of geographical location, development resources, and tourism potential. Therefore, in recent years, Binh Thuan Province has coordinated with several other localities to organize joint activities aimed at creating unique tourism products, identifying key markets, and developing signature offerings. Particular emphasis has been placed on promotion, introduction, and tourism marketing, enabling cost reductions for each locality while ensuring the products maintain an inter-regional appeal.
Collaboration in tourism promotion, as well as in the formulation of management policies, product development, and resource sharing, has contributed to gradually positioning the tourism brand of these localities as valuable and appealing destinations with diverse products and high-quality services. To further capitalize on these advantages, in October 2024, the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Binh Thuan Province held a working session and information exchange with its counterpart in Ha Tinh Province to explore cooperation opportunities between the two localities.
This tourism linkage and development cooperation program between the two provinces is an objective requirement for tourism development. It aims to expand tourism spaces, maximize the strengths of each locality, create diverse and attractive tourism products, enhance competitive advantages, mobilize resources, and strengthen joint promotional efforts to attract investment. These efforts also help promote inter-locality and inter-regional socio-economic development. The partnership provides an opportunity for the two provinces to connect and strengthen their tourism development.
In addition to its collaboration with Ha Tinh, Binh Thuan Province is actively cooperating and linking tourism development with other provinces such as Ninh Thuan, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, and Dong Nai. These partnerships focus on exchanging information about tourism development, promoting and advertising tourism, building and developing tourism products, and supporting businesses, organizations, and individuals involved in tourism-related activities. Moreover, the parties regularly share updates on the development of tourism products, attractions, tour programs, and new offerings in their respective localities to introduce them to domestic and international enterprises and through media channels. The agreements also aim to help each locality leverage its advantages and potential, attract resources to boost tourism development and draw more visitors. This contributes to diversifying tourism products, piloting new tours, and renewing existing ones based on the strengths of each locality.
Expanding Regional Tourism Linkages
The most notable result of collaboration between localities in tourism development is the successful promotion of the Central and Central Highlands regions as attractive destinations for domestic and international tourists. This has led to increased visitor numbers, job creation, and local budget revenue. Despite these achievements, tourism cooperation so far has largely focused on promotion and advertising, while aspects such as product development and human resource training have not received adequate attention. Differences in priorities and financial resources among localities also pose challenges in defining key target markets. To move towards professionalism and diversity, there is a need for a comprehensive plan for inter-locality tourism development. This includes enhancing cooperation in tourism promotion, gradually positioning regional tourism brands as valuable and unique destinations, and setting clear policies for tourism management, product development, and human resource training.
Developing a shared regional tourism information database is crucial for supporting policy-making, improving service quality, and fostering a healthy tourism business environment. Tourism associations and businesses are encouraged to create unique local tours and collaborate on hotel reservations to enrich visitor experiences. Furthermore, foreign language training courses and international cooperation workshops are being organized to improve service quality and enhance professional training in tourism across the region.
