BTO – For nearly 2 months ago, people easily found some 100 pieces of bread freely put in the cabinet in front of the gateway to La Gi hospital every early morning from 5 a.m. The charity box of bread with a notice “charity bread, one loaf for one person” has appeared to help low-income patients not skip their breakfast and save their hospital costs.

N.T.M.C, 40, a poor resident of Son My commune, who is taking care of her young child in La Gi hospital, said that: “I and my young sick child have been living here since a half month ago. All costs of medicine, eating and drinking are too expensive for us to cover, so having a free loaf of bread every morning is more than enough, reducing much costs for us”.

“The free bread box notices everyone to take only one piece, so I often take one for my sick son. It’s thankful to the good deed of the person who offered the free bread for the poor patients like me”, said Mrs. NTT, 56, an inhabitant of Tan Binh commune.

According to doctor Nghia, deputy director of La Gi hospital, a philanthropist suggested this charity action to the hospital, we totally agreed with the suggestion because of its humanity. Since then, at around 5 a.m every morning, someone comes and puts 100 loaves of bread into the cabinet for needy patients without any supervision.

The free-of-charge bread cabinet, the second one in La Gi town, is run by the same donor. The first one was positioned in front of the house, No.131, Le Loi street, Phuoc Hoi commune 1 year ago. It is still in operation with each 100 loaves of bread every morning for low-income workers, students and homeless. The charity action has touched the hearts of many people locally and domestically, but the owner of the two charity bread boxes refused to publicize his/her name, age and address, saying that he/she will keep on the bread boxes as long as he/she loses financial capability.
