Phan Thiet airport project is a dual-use investment serving military, national security, and defense as well as civil exploitation. The airport is planned as a 4E-level airport with one takeoff and landing runway covering a length of 3,050 meters. The terminal has a design capacity of two million passengers per year. The project is implementing construction items and is expected to be completed by 2024.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hien - Deputy Director of the Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, shared: In order to complete the articles of Phan Thiet Airport, The Provincial People's Council passed the approved Investment Policy Resolution. The project will asphalt the road with the starting point intersecting with Vo Nguyen Giap road at Km7+700. The ending point is the civil aviation gate in Thien Nghiep commune, Phan Thiet city. The route has a length of about 3.63 km, a roadbed width of 36m, a road surface width of 13.5m, a median width of 12.5 m, sidewalk width on each side of 5.0 m. The road surface structure is asphalt concrete on a macadam layer, the sidewalk structure is tiled.
In addition, the project also includes the construction of drainage systems, trees, lighting, ensuring traffic safety, and related auxiliary items. The project in group B. 4 has a total investment of about 117,883 billion VND. Investment capital is from the provincial budget (Provincial budget reserve capital in the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2021 - 2025 and heading to the period 2026 – 2030), the project implementation will last 4 years. The project progress starts from 2023 to 2025 and heads to the period 2026 - 2030. Previously, the road to the airport (phase I), approved by the Provincial People's Committee in Decision No. 3159, was constructed and accepted with the following dimensions: The route is 3,632m long, 13.5m wide, 36m roadbed, 30cm thick soil embankment structure. Total investment was 59,366 billion VND.
