On the February 20 afternoon, Mr. Le Minh Hoan - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development led a delegation to make a field visit in Ham Thuan Nam district.
On the visit, the delegation toured Binh An Hi-tech Agricultural Farm, Thuan Quy Commune and Hoang Hau Dragon Fruit Co., Ltd., Ham My Commune. Welcoming and working with the delegation, there were leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Department of Industry and Trade, the People's Committee of Ham Thuan Nam District and the Binh Thuan Dragon Fruit Association.
At Binh A Hi-tech Agricultural, Farm, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan and the delegation visited a high-tech production area covering a total area of about 80 hectares under the GlobalGAP standards. According to the introduction to the farm owner, the enterprise currently has 70 hectares of dragon fruit, 5 hectares of grapes and 5 hectares of melons. In particular, the past few years the enterprise has invested in importing 26 grape varieties from the US, Italy and Japan for trial planting. Currently, there are 6 grape varieties adapted to the climate and soil of Binh Thuan province. Thereby, the product achieves high yield, high sweetness and sweetness similar to imported grapes. At the same time, the farm has been developing and expanding the area of yellow-skinned dragon fruit, bringing high economic value.
On the way to Hoang Hau Dragon Fruit Co., Ltd., an export processing area of dragon fruit, Minister Le Minh Hoan asked about the production, consumption and development of dragon fruit export markets of the enterprise in particular and Binh Thuan farmers in general. Thereby, he exchanged some content about the difficulties and obstacles in the process of consuming dragon fruit in the current time of the locality. Particularly, Hoang Hau Dragon Fruit Co., Ltd. Is one of the major export enterprises of the province. Every year, the enterprise builds a sustainable supply chain in the most demanding markets such as Europe, the United States, Canada and gradually expands dragon fruit exports to Japan, Korea, and India. Currently, Hoang Hau dragon fruit is promoting more markets in many countries around the world.
Reporting to the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Leader of the Binh Thuan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Mai Kieu said that the province currently has nearly 34,000 hectares of dragon fruit. Of which, nearly 14,000 hectares of dragon fruit meet VietGAP standards and about 335 hectares of dragon fruit have been granted GlobalGAP certificate. Currently, the situation of customs clearance through the northern border gates faces many difficulties because of the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic. Therefore, the price of dragon fruit is falling deeply because businesses only buy in moderation. The price of white flesh dragon fruit in the garden is currently about 1,000-2,000 VND/kg (Out-of-season fruits).
On the morning of February 21, the delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development worked with the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province on the situation of dragon fruit production and consumption in the area.
