Van Thanh Lake – A new recreation of Phan Thiet City

Phan Thiet City People's Committee has decided to invest in renovating Van Thanh Lake to have more recreation and sports grounds for city residents. The investment goal is to handle environmental pollution, expand urban landscapes, and create a "green, clean, and beautiful" environment in the region.

The project has an investment and processing scale and creates a landscape around the lake about 810m in length. Sidewalks and walkways around the lake with a width of 2.5m - 5m are paved with Terrazzo tiles. Green tree systems and lighting systems were installed, a reinforced concrete water collection pit was arranged, and the cement concrete slope around the lake was reinforced. The routes around the lake on Nguyen Viet Xuan Street, from Vo Van Tan Street to the end of Van Thanh market (2 sides) are expanded to about 71m long and about 1.25m wide on each side. Vo Van Tan Street, the section from Nguyen Viet Xuan Street to Truong Gia Hoi (2 sides) is narrowed, each side length is about 208m and 1m wide. The existing road which is perpendicular to Truong Gia Hoi Street (on both sides), is enlarged by a length of about 216m and a width of about 1.25m on each side. The street is made of asphalt concrete on two crushed stone layers making a new appearance to the pavements. Leveling course of traffic routes around the lake include Nguyen Viet Xuan Street, the section from Vo Van Tan Street to the end of Van Thanh market (both sides) with a length of about 71m, a width of about 4.5m; Vo Van Tan Street, from Nguyen Viet Xuan Street to Truong Gia Hoi, is about 208m long and about 7m wide. Truong Gia Hoi Street is about 98m long and about 7m wide. The existing asphalt road perpendicular to Truong Gia Hoi Street is about 216m long and about 4.5m wide.

The road along the Ca Ty River is about 253m long and about 4.5m wide. The pollution treatment in the area is near the lake (along Nguyen Viet Xuan Street to Ca Ty River), and the land with an area of about 5,200 m2 is cleared and leveled. The drainage system connecting Van Thanh Lake to Ca Ty River with a length of about 100 m is enewed. A parking lot near the sidewalk of Nguyen Viet Xuan Street at the market area with 600m2 was set up. Making over the park has 9.500 m2, removing old titles, planting pots, and replanting new grass and trees. The total investment fee of the project is around 14,8 billion dong from the city budget. The practical time of the project is in a period of 2023 and 2025.

Mr. Do Minh Tri - Director of Phan Thiet City Construction Investment Project Management Board said: Although it is expected to be completed in 2025 the workforce units are attempting to push up the process as soon as possible.

Currently, the construction project has reached nearly 90% progress. It is expected that in January 2024, the construction will operate to welcome citizens and foreign tourists on Lunar New Year.
