Earlier, on the afternoon of October 3, while Mr. Philip Nelson and Mrs. Joanne Shaw (British tourists) were cycling on Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street in Ham Tien Ward, Phan Thiet City, a young man riding a motorcycle suddenly approached and snatched the Mr. Philip Nelson’s handbag in front of his bicycle. The handbag contained approximately 800,000 VND in cash, a mobile phone, a camera, and a driver’s license (with a total estimated value of about 80 million VND). After the incident, the victims reported to the Ham Tien Ward Police.
Upon receiving the information from the Ham Tien Ward Police, the Phan Thiet City Police directed the Criminal Investigation Team to verify and trace the suspect.

Using professional measures, the authorities identified the suspect as V.T.T. They then deployed forces to unexpectedly surround and arrest T while he was at home in Luong Tay neighborhood, Luong Son Town, Bac Binh District.
During the interrogation, T confessed that he committed the crime because he noticed that the foreign tourists were careless in protecting their belongings. After stealing the property, T sold the mobile phone, while the remaining items were hidden at his home.
Currently, the Investigation Police Agency of Phan Thiet City has recovered the property and is carrying out legal procedures to return all the items to the victims and to compile a case file for handling the suspect V.T.T in accordance with the law.
