According to traditional rites, the festival turned out with 16 traditional folk rituals preserved and inherited by generations of the Chinese people in Phan Thiet, namely: the ceremony of appealing to the Holy Mother, a ceremony to seek Buddhist scriptures, a ceremony to get the water, a ceremony of summoning Chieu Ung God, a ceremony to open Buddhist scriptures, etc.
On the peak day of the three-day festival, as many as 1,000 people masqueraded as the nation’s legends and processed Ong’s tablet through the streets of Nguyen Hue, Dinh Tien Hoang, Trung Trac, and Trung Nhi. Stellar dances and martial art performances were featured during the process. The highlight of the ritual was the performance of a 49-meter-long dragon, the longest one in Vietnam with 150 people alternating to dance.
The event falls on the weekend so it lures a great number of onlookers and tourists to pack both sides of some main streets of Tran Phu – Nguyen Hue – Dinh Tien Hoang - Ly Thuong Kiet - Trung Trac - Trung Nhi - Nguyen Van Cu - Ngo Si Lien – Ngu Ong - Tran Hung Dao - Tran Quoc Toan - Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, etc to await for the procession. Visitors could take part in a carnival, lion and dragon dances, and enjoy folk music.
The festival was chosen to serve tourism development in the province, making contributions to popularising local images among domestic and international friends.
