USD 2.2 million in favor of boosting resilience in agriculture

BTO – Lately, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Le Tuan Phong welcomed a delegation of the United Nations Development Programs (UNDP) led by Mrs. Sitara Syed – Deputy Representative of UNDP in Vietnam on their trip to Binh Thuan province. The working session covers a presentation on “Strengthening the resilience of smallholder agriculture to climate change-induced water insecurity in the Central Highlands and South Central Coast of Vietnam (SACCR)”.

Accordingly, Binh Thuan’s SACCR project is funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) accredited by UNDP. The project shall be deployed in the two districts of Ham Thuan Nam and Ham Thuan Bac with a total ODA capital of USD 2.2 million. The real reciprocal capital is more than 267,000 USD (excluding the in-kind reciprocal part).

This is reportedly a non-refundable ODA project, with a total investment of more than USD 33 million. The project is expected to carry out in the five provinces of Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Binh Thuan, Ninh Thuan, and Khanh Hoa in the 2020-2025 period. Mrs. Sitara Syed expected the provincial authorities to pave the way for the project procedures.

On the province side, Mr. Le Tuan Phong thanked the UNDP support and care for the local agriculture, saying that the province will promptly deploy the relevant procedures while committing to arrange reciprocal capital in accordance with the proposed roadmap.
