BTO - There are still many difficulties and challenges in the general situation, Binh Thuan's economy in this first 6 months has many "highlights" in pillar industries and fields.

In the first half of 2024, Binh Thuan recorded a growth rate of gross domestic product (GRDP) of about 7.1% over the same period last year, ranking 21/63 provinces and cities in Vietnam. This result also puts the locality ranked 6th out of 14 provinces and cities in the North Central and Central Coast regions in terms of GRDP growth in the first 6 months.

In general, Binh Thuan's economic picture has bright colors from the pillar industries and fields: Industry - Tourism - Agriculture. Specifically, through the first 6 months, industrial production showed good growth with the industrial production index (IIP) increasing by approximately 13% over the same period last year. The industrial production value is estimated at 20,903 billion VND (up 9.61% over the same period), processing and manufacturing industry alone reached 8,772 billion VND (up 3.67%), while production - distribution Electricity distribution reached 10,893 billion VND (up 17.54%).

Regarding tourism - one of the three economic pillars of Binh Thuan, it has shown optimistic signs through vibrant activities from the beginning of 2024 so far, especially on holidays and weekends. In the province, there are about 642 accommodation establishments in use with a total of 20,164 rooms (ranked 61 accommodation establishments with more than 5,500 rooms). Currently, Binh Thuan continues to be an attractive destination due to its strength in tourism. Sea-island tourism, favorable traffic and weather, rich cuisine... It is estimated that in the first half of this year, the whole province will welcome about 4,590,000 visitors (an increase of more than 5% over the same period last year), in particular, international tourists are 234,000 (an increase of 91.18%). The results have contributed to bringing the tourism revenue of Binh Thuan in the past 6 months to an estimated VND 11,832 billion (up 4.31% over the same period).

In the agricultural sector, local perennial crops remain stable with a total area of ​​more than 108,500 hectares (up 0.14% over the same period), of which: Dragon fruit is 26,550 hectares, rubber is 45,450 hectares, cashew is more than 17,000 hectares. Through the first half of 2024, seafood exploitation output in the whole province is estimated to reach 111,200 tons (up 1.77% over the same period), and aquaculture output is estimated at 4,045 tons (up 2.62%). Shrimp postlarvae production and consumption are estimated at 11.13 billion, increasing more than 2% compared to the same period last year.

Tourism activities in recent times.

Aiming to achieve the tasks in 2024, the locality will focus on implementing many solutions to promote Binh Thuan's economic development, especially in 3 pillars: Industry - Tourism - Agriculture. Accordingly, relevant departments, functional units, and localities will actively support businesses in removing difficulties and obstacles to speed up the progress of infrastructure investment in industrial zones and clusters in Binh Thuan. , especially with large-scale industrial parks such as Son My 1, Son My 2, Tan Duc.

Beside promoting destination advertisement, in the second half of this year, the locality also implemented an appropriate stimulus program to develop the tourism market quickly. At the same time, it continues to diversify new products and invest in upgrading the quality of accommodation services, improving professionalism in service to contribute to maintaining the destination image of "Safe - Friendly - Fascinating - Quality".

In the first half of 2024, Binh Thuan has drastically implemented the Central Government's direction on combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated seafood exploitation. At the same time, it also focuses on conquering limitations in combating IUU exploitation according to the conclusions of the European Commission Inspection Team; promoting the effectiveness of the cruise monitoring system in monitoring and preventing fishing vessels from exceeding the allowed boundaries at sea, monitoring fishing vessels entering/leaving ports, loading and unloading products, and tracing the origin of seafood and enforcing laws on IUU fishing following regulations.
