Binh Thuan to introduce Cham Culture to international tourists

Particularly, the rustic products of Cham pottery from Binh Duc have caught the attention of international tourists right at the lobby of Pandanus Resort in Phan Thiet City. Here, artisans continuously demonstrate the art of Cham pottery-making and brocade weaving to meet the interests of visitors eager to explore, observe, and enjoy their visit to Binh Thuan. Additionally, the resort collaborates with the Mui Ne Museum of Antiquities to display artifacts and collections of paintings related to Cham culture in walkways, restaurants, and the lush gardens, creating a miniature Cham cultural space within the resort.

In a musical atmosphere accompanied by lively dances, Cham culinary specialties traditionally served during important celebrations—such as ginger cakes, goat stew, roasted chicken with rich rice, and mango salad with anchovies—are authentically presented to guests, bursting with flavor.

Mr. Lu Quoc Thien, a representative of the Cham Royal Family from Phan Thanh Commune, Bac Binh District, Binh Thuan Province, shared: “This is the most distinctive cuisine of the Cham community in Binh Thuan and the Cham Royal Family, introduced to international visitors. We hope Cham cuisine will be warmly received by international tourists.”

Visitors can also immerse themselves in the experience by participating in activities like ginger cake making or enjoying the distinctive flavors of Cham dishes and dances. Beyond simply observing, tourists have opportunities to interact with artisans and engage in hands-on activities. Demonstrations of brocade weaving and pottery-making by Cham artisans serve as a platform to introduce, honor, and promote the unique cultural values of the Cham people, showcasing the rich diversity of Vietnam’s cultural heritage. These activities have captivated the interest and left lasting impressions on many visitors.

Over the past 10 months, Binh Thuan has welcomed nearly 8 million visitors to its tourism sites, including an estimated 312,000 international tourists, primarily from South Korea, China, Russia, Germany, the UK, the U.S., and Northern Europe.

Now in its peak season for international arrivals, Binh Thuan’s Cham cultural tourism initiatives not only contribute to preserving and promoting the traditional heritage of the region’s ethnic groups but also benefit local Cham communities participating in tourism. These efforts expand awareness of Cham culture both domestically and internationally, transforming these traditions into distinctive tourism products that each accommodation strives to develop to attract both domestic and international visitors to Binh Thuan.
