The report of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that domestic tourists were estimated at 9.6 million visitors in February 2022, while international tourists under the pilot programme reached about 1,558 visitors.
Total revenue from tourists is estimated at 41,380 billion VND, up 313% over the same period last year.
From the beginning of 2022, the total number of international visitors to Vietnam under the pilot programme is estimated at 7,358 visitors, with domestic tourists counting 17.6 million.
These numbers show huge a demand for tourism, signalling the positive resilience of tourism when fully reopening under new normal conditions.
In March 2022, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will report to the Prime Minister to allow the reopening of tourism activities under new normal conditions from March 15.
At the same time, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will focus on developing a tourism development plan associated with the program of economic recovery and development, proposing solutions to restore domestic tourism in association with ensuring safety for epidemic prevention, and deploying the digital tourism development plan for 2022.
The ministry will continue to deploy synchronously the promotion campaign “Live fully in Vietnam” on online communication channels of Vietnam tourism such as website www.vietnam.travel, social media accounts on facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest and Tiktok, and the domestic tourism programme "Safe travel - Full experience".
