BTO – According to a newly-announced Conclusion of Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam on plans to fully reopen international tourism and lift travel restrictions from March 15th, several ministries have voiced support for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's proposal in terms of the time and conditions for full resumption of tourism activities in the new normal periods. Specifically, Vietnam will fully reopen its air, land, and sea borders from March 15, all travel restrictions imposed since the pandemic broke out in Vietnam in 2020 would be removed.
It can be said that this is good news for the tourism industry because of the absence of international visitors over the past two years. In Binh Thuan, this “smokeless industry” has gradually prospered during the latest Tet holiday with over 75,000 visitors to the locality. Such tourist arrivals brought to the locality tourism revenues of VND57 billion (a year-on-year increase of 3 percent). With respect to international visitors, they have also voted for Binh Thuan as February relaxation destination with about 2,100 turns of the foreigners who are working and living in Vietnam.
Consequently, Vietnam will officially reopen to welcome international tourists in the next 15 days in accordance with the direction of the Government and the Prime Minister on "flexibly adapting, safely, and effectively controlling the Covid-19 epidemic”. As for Binh Thuan province, over the past time, the tourism industry also wants and always prepares to welcome foreign tourists back.
Meanwhile, according to analytical data on the Google Destination Insights tool (Tracking tourism trends), the number of international searches about Vietnam's tourism has gradually increased since the end of last year. Especially, there was a sudden spike in mid-February 2022, raising hopes for our country's tourism industry to have more opportunities for a strong recovery right after reopening to international visitors. The results show that in the 10 destinations of Vietnam that are most searched by international tourists, there is Phan Thiet, next to the following destinations: Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Da Nang, Hoi An, Da Lat, Quy Nhon, Vung Tau.
