At the meeting, leaders of the Son La Provincial People's Committee informed the local socio-economic development situation. At the same time, the leaders of the two provinces gave an overview of the socio-economic development as well as the potential, advantages, and outstanding achievements in recent years.
The working session turned around the management and development of wind power projects. Mr. Vo Van Hoa - Director of Binh Thuan Department of Industry and Trade gave an overview of attracting investment projects to produce renewable energy in the province, including solar power and wind power. coastal, offshore wind power, etc.

Accordingly, by the end of 2022, Binh Thuan has had 35 renewable energy power plants (including 9 wind power plants, and 26 solar power plants) generating electricity with a total capacity of 1,409.71 MW. These are making an important contribution to the local socio-economic development, supplying electricity to the southern key economic region and ensuring national energy security.

On this occasion, a number of issues related to the field of renewable energy raised by Son La guests were frankly and openly exchanged by representatives of functional departments of Binh Thuan. For example, the issues of planning orientation, renewable energy development plan, capacity appraisal of investment projects, or on land management, conversion of land use purposes, and environmental protection have been discussed.
In reality, Binh Thuan has withdrawn a number of practical experiences in renewable energy management and development.
As known, Son La is also a locality with a relatively large advantage in developing wind power in the northern mountainous provinces on the map of wind power potential in Vietnam. In 2022, the Provincial People's Committee of Son La proposed to the Ministry of Industry and Trade consider adding to Power Plan VIII the potential for wind power development in Son La with a scale of about 1,150 MW.
On the trip, the two provinces also exchanged souvenirs and considered this as an opportunity to continue connecting Binh Thuan - Son La in the near future.
