Binh Thuan’s dragon fruit and fish sauce added to Asian records for Vietnamese dishes

BTO - The Asian Records Organisation (ARO) has lately announced a further 9 Vietnamese culinary specialties as part of its latest Asian Records listings, according to the Vietnam Records Organisation (VietKings). Among those, two food specialties of Binh Thuan have been called names on the list, including dragon fruit and fish sauce.

This is the 5th time VietKings has been successfully nominated. The total number of successful nominations is Vietnam’s 50 new Asian record in the field of cuisine – specialties.

Since 2012, the Vietnam Record Organization has searched and promoted Vietnamese dishes and specialties through the nomination to set 50 Asian records for the period 2012 – 2023.

On the search journey, localities have introduced many Vietnamese dishes with typical flavors.

The newly-recognized dishes and specialties include traditional cakes of Can Tho city; dishes made from pineapple in the southern province of Hau Giang; fried puffed sticky rice cake in the southern province of Dong Nai; Dinh Bang “Phu The” (husband and wife) cake in the northern province of Bac Ninh; dragon fruit in the south-central province of Binh Thuan; Phan Thiet fish sauce from Binh Thuan province; Luc Ngan lychee in the northern province of Bac Giang; Lam Dong artichoke in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong; Long Xuyen broken rice in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang

The decision was based on nominations put forward by the Vietnam Records Organisation (VietKings) during the 2012 to 2023 period.
