Binh Thuan gets the nod to host National Tourism Year in 2023

Chairman of the Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee Le Tuan Phong said that over the past time, Binh Thuan province has paid much attention to, invested in, and wished to promote tourism development to become a key economic sector of the locality. In October 2021, the Executive Committee of the Provincial Party Committee (term XIV) issued Resolution No. 06-NQ/TU on tourism development to 2025, orientation to 2030. Accordingly, Binh Thuan has brought tourism back to life, and become a spearhead economic sector and the main economic pillar of the province. At the same time, the locality is also determined to build Mui Ne as a National Tourist Area deserving one of the leading destinations of the Asia - Pacific region.

Owned advantage of natural resources, Binh Thuan has potential for tourism development, known as a resort paradise. Currently, Binh Thuan tourism is increasingly affirmed its brand name after successfully organizing a number of major international events such as Windsurfing, PWA World Cup, International Sailing Festival, International Hot Air Balloon Festival, etc.

Additionally, the province has so far investest and developed its Tourism infrastructure. Particularly, a total of 594 accommodation establishments with 17,587 rooms altogether and many large-scale tourism projects such as SEA Links Beach Hotel, Anantara Mui Ne beach Resort, Novaworld Phan Thiet are well operating. Along with that, the province is also focusing on developing many infrastructure projects, connecting key traffic, and creating favorable conditions for tourists and investors. Based on such actual conditions, Binh Thuan province can meet all the conditions to host the National Tourism Year in 2023.

After listening to the opinions of the attending delegates, Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung highly appreciated the attention and investment of Binh Thuan province in the tourism industry in recent years. The locality has realized the potential and advantages of making tourism a spearhead economic sector and an economic pillar of the province.

Minister Hung agreed to allow Binh Thuan province to host the National Tourism Year in 2023. He suggested Binh Thuan province redesign the proposed project in the direction of "Suitable scale, suitable capacity" to get full success in holding such major event and promoting the local potentials and strengths to the maximum. Accordingly, it is necessary to base on the reality of the potential and strengths of the locality when developing the project. The events need to go into focus and on a par with the national level. Outstandingly, cultural, sports, and tourism events must be connected with each other, not independent, one is a premise for another, inter-regional, not merely promoting the strengths of each other. The locality must highlight the generality of the Central Coast region, associated with the locomotive Ho Chi Minh City to create pervasiveness.

The Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism also suggested that Binh Thuan province needs to quantify the events to be held in the National Tourism Year to take the initiative in options. At the same time, it should promote socialization in organizing this big event. In addition, on the basis of the local strengths, the province needs to locate and refresh its tourism products, promoting and calling for investment to develop tourism strengths in the area, hitherto.

According to Minister Hung, in the short term, the province needs to set up an Organizing Committee for the 2023 National Tourism Year to plan and implement a specific and methodical implementation plan due to a lot of must-to-do lists. He also requested the National Administration of Tourism to consider and review resources in support of Binh Thuan province in the process of preparing and organizing the 2023 National Tourism Year event.
