Belgian ambassador arrived in Binh Thuan for inaugurating Luy riverbank anti-erosion embankment work

BTO – An embankment in prevention of Luy riverbank erosion has been inauguarted on Thursday afternoon in Bac Binh district (Binh Thuan province) under the witness of Mr. Paul Jansen - Belgian Ambassador to Vietnam and Mr. Le Tuan Phong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

At the event

The construction of anti-erosion embankment of Luy riverbank was kicked off in November 2017 at Canh Dien hamlet, Phan Thanh commune and Cho Lau townlet (Bac Binh district). It covers a length of 580 meters with a total investment of VND 15 billion, funded by the Belgian Kingdom.

The project targets at preventing riverbank erosion, protecting residents’ houses, infrastructure and production land along the Luy river. In addition, rural road was also constructed along the embankment to facilitate the locals for traveling.

The construction shall bring many benefits to about 1,000 direct locals, improving the production life of more than 2,000 indirect people in the two localities of Phan Thanh and Cho Lau, said Mr. Paul Jansen - Belgian Ambassador to Vietnam.
