Binh Thuan will organise a series of 208 events and activities, including 13 chaired and hosted by the MOCST, and 31 unique and attractive cultural, sports and tourism events at inter-provincial, national, and international scale to take place throughout 2023. Along with that, are 164 responding cultural, sports and tourism events and activities organised by 41 provinces and cities under the Central Government.

MOCST’s Deputy Minister Doan Van Viet speaking at the Press conference

Speaking at the event, MOCST’s Deputy Minister Doan Van Viet stressed that, Vietnam's tourism industry is showing signs of prosperity, vibrant activities are back in major tourist centres across the country. For the first 10 months of 2022, Vietnam has welcomed more than 2.3 million international tourist arrivals, 92 million domestic arrivals and achieved VND425 trillion of the tourist receipts. The search volume for Vietnam tourism in October 2022 showed 20% higher than September 2022 and 11 times higher than March 2022.

Binh Thuan Province with advantages of tourism destination

Binh Thuan has a tropical monsoon climate, warm sunshine, fresh air, and cool, mild temperature, creating a favourable environment for organising tourism activities all year round.

The province is home to a 192km-long coast with various beautiful beaches, famous tourist attractions, historical-cultural relics and traditional festivals.

The lcoality has nearly 900 accommodation establishments with over 17,000 rooms, including 45 hotels and resorts from 3 to 5 stars with nearly 5,000 rooms; and 13 travel agencies, including eight international travel agencies.

In 2022, Binh Thuan is estimated to welcome over 5 million visitors, with tourism revenue estimated at $556 million. In the national tourism year 2023, Binh Thuan is expected to receive more than 6.5 million visitors, surpassing the 6.4 million tourists that arrived before the pandemic.

With such favorable condition, Deputy Minister Doan Van Viet believes that Binh Thuan has full of potentialities to develop various types of tourism products such as wellness, excursions, sports and leisure tourism on the sea, on sand dunes, adventure tourism, exploration of fauna and flora under the sea, cultural tourism, spiritual ceremonies associated with historical - cultural relics and special traditional festivals such as Nghinh Ong Festival (known as the Whale Worshiping Festival, local fishermen pray for favourable weather conditions, peace in the country, safe voyages and bumper hauls of fish), Kate festival (the Cham people honour their dead and heroes from their history), Thay Thim Temple festival (shows the spirit “drinking water, think of its source” of Binh Thuan People), Mid-Autumn lantern procession, etc.

Remarkably, Binh Thuan is also a gateway for economic, cultural and social exchanges with localities in the Southeast, South Central and the Central Highlands regions; a connecting knot of major tourist centres of the Southern region such as Nha Trang, Da Lat, and Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau and so on.

It is expected the year of 2023 will be the bright spot to lure more investors, businesses and tourists to Binh Thuan province as it has recently focused on investing, innovating and building attractive tourism products, in the hope of delivering a ‘new breeze’ for domestic and international visitors.

Mr. Nguyen Minh, Vice Chairman of Binh Thuan Provincial People’s Committee.

Sharing at the press conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh expects the Vietnam Visit Year 2023 will make a good impression on domestic and foreign tourists. At the same time, the event can lure international tourists to Binh Thuan province in particular and Vietnam in general, spurring the tourism industry to "take off" in the new period.

Ms. Nguyen Lan Ngoc, Deputy Director of Binh Thuan Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism informed that the highlights of the 2023 Vietnam Visit Year is the announcement ceremony of the National Tourism Year 2023 associated with the Countdown Festival to ring in the new year 2023 (on the 31st night of December 2022). Next is the Opening Ceremony of Vietnam Visit Year 2023 - “Binh Thuan: Green Tourism comes together which is expected to be held in March 202. Finally, an awarding ceremony of the Contest "Vietnam aspiration: Turning Phan Thiet into the world's leading destination for MICE and Wellness tourism by 2045” is slated for September 2023. Additionally, the closing ceremony of the Vietnam Visit Year 2023 - Binh Thuan: Green tourism comes together and welcoming the new year 2024 is expected to be held locally on December 30, 2023.
