BTO- Reports from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development show that seafood markets in Vietnam, including Binh Thuan, have faced difficulties due to the negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic in the first months of the year.

Accordingly, export s of marine products to major markets such as China, Japan, and South Korean have suffered remarkable decreases. However, the recent recovery of processing and export activities has helped exporters retain their earnings. Seafood companies have maintained export orders with their traditional partners, so export volume to some market as Japan, Taiwan (China), Germany, etc has increased compared with that of the same period last year. At the same time, Binh Thuan’s enterprises have shipped frozen shrimp to the Netherlands and China as a new export product, contributing to boosting the total export values of the province.

The 8-month- accumulation of seafood export turnover reached VND 99.81 million, accounting for 71.3% of the whole year’s plan (USD 140 million), an increase of 12.39% in comparison with the same period last year. The total export volume of marine products achieved 2.792 tons, raising by 2,020 tons compared with the corresponding period last year.
