As reported, two varieties of Ly Son’s white garlic and Phan Rang garlic had beenexperimentally cultivatedinNovember 2016 on a land area of 2,000 m2 of two household participants.With the initial efficiency, those varieties have been planted in the 2016-2017 crop on another 5,000 m2 of 10 households. During the experimental cultivation, the garlics have well adapted to local weather and pedological conditions so the plants offered high productivity. Particularly, Phan Rang garlic has proved its potentiality with the highest productivity of 67.2 quintals/ha while Ly Son garlic gained 59.1 quintals/ha.
At the event, cadres of Binh Thuan Agriculture Encouragement Center cleared up queries given by local farmers about the technical process of caring, watering and putting down ferilizers in accordance with the crops’ growingperiods in order to get high productivity.
According to the Center’s director Nguyen Van Tam, the experimental cultivation’s results show that garlic tree is suitable to be grown in the sunny and windy area of Hoa Thang. In the near future, this model will be disseminated as a new crop with high yield and economic effect forlocal farmers.
