Vietnam officially participated in the Earth Hour Campaign in 2009 with Ministry of Industry and Trade as the main organizer. Since then, a wide range of responding activities have been held in 63 provinces/cities across the country to encourage the community to raise awareness of energy-saving and environmental protection to deal with climate change. Vietnam Electricity (EVN) has been promoted the campaign as a sponsor for power-saving events for 10 years.
Switching off lights and other unnecessary electric devices during the 60-minute earth hour shows a significant action to respond to the campaign. For that reason, EVN calls on organizations, businesses, families and individuals to actively participate in activities to promote the purpose and meaning of Earth Hour Campaign, then join hands to combat climate change.
In additon to propaganda programmes taking place across the province during March, EVN Binh Thuan and the provincial Youth Union planned to hold parades in 10 districts/city/town and a launching ceremony for Earth Hour 2018 at Vo Van Kiet Park-Phan Thiet city in the evening of March 24.
