Cooperation policy
According to Mr. Vo Van Dong – manager of the company, the investment and production of farm produce are widely implemented across the country. Despite a great number of linked projects, local agricultural products face consumption troubles, urging VietMa to come up with the project which links the banana growers in Dong Kho commune for export. The project aims at solving benefits between enterprises and farmers.
Accordingly, the linked area for growing banana is 36.5 ha with 48 participating households. The banana variety is South American banana. The company will invest in seeds, supplies, infrastructure and purchase all the output with the price at VND 1,500 per kg while the farmers contribute labor service and farming land.
The objectives of the project are to stabilize processing materials, consumption and export of the agricultural products, use new variety, apply modern-of-the-art cultivation procedures, water economically and balance fertilizers in order to reduce production costs and raise the productivity and quality of agricultural products to ensure food hygiene and safety. On the other hand, the project offers new opportunities when transferring small-scale production to bigger one, which ensure the volume of farming products for partners.
New opportunities and new expectations awaiting…
Reportedly, the economic existence of people in Dong Kho commune mainly rely on 2 major crop plants: rice and corn. However, the yearly revenues from the two crop plants often see low profits.
In the meatime, growing banana takes 18 crops over 10 years (divided into 2 circles) with an expected productivity of 32,120 tons. Farmers can harvest at least 9 crops during the first circle of 5 years with a whole productivity of 16,000 tons and a revenue of over VND 24 billion from the total farming area of 36.5 hectare. Consequently, the farmers can get double profits from banana farming than traditional cultivation of rice and corn. Moreover, farmers do not invest any costs when joining the cooperative project.
On the other hand, the project will facilitate laborers much free time to earn more money as soon as it come into existence. The VietGAP standards will be applied to the project to ensure safety and food hygiene for consumers. All technical cultivation will be transferred to the local farmers by experienced engineers who will always accompany with the farmers during the project implemented.
Currently, Tanh Linh district’s authorities are waiting for the direction and guideline from higher levels. However, the farmers should take into consideration when choosing the enterprise partners in terms of capital capacity, organization structures and current situation of operation as well as the articles stipulated in the agreement, said Mr. Phan Van Tan – deputy director of department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
