Over 2 million energy-saving lamps in favor for dragon-fruit growers

BTO – A closing ceremony to wrap up the program in support of dragon fruit farmers to replace incandescent lamps with energy-saving lamps, launched by the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), took place in Phan Thiet city on  April 12th.

The program was deployed by the Southern Power Corporation (EVN SPC) in the three provinces of Binh Thuan, Long An and Tien Giang in mid 2014. As of now, the program has supported nearly 2,330 households whose over 2 million incandescent bulbs were replaced with compact lamps (more power-saving lamps). Of the total, Binh Thuan farmers benefited the most amount of lamps (over 1.65 million).

According to the evaluation of the EVN SPC, the program is significantly meaningful and efficient for the cause of saving electricity nationwide with the value of dozens of billions of dongs each year, contributing to lessening the pressure of power investment and supply.

On the occasion, EVN SPC awarded certificates of merit to 130 individuals, organizations of the three beneficiary provinces for their outstanding contribution and achievements in the implementation of the program.
