Over 4,000 works joined “Preserving local Cultural heritage” painting contest

BTO- The 2019 “Preserving local cultural heritage” painting contest, in its 3rd time, co-held by the management board of Po Sah Inu Cham heritage tower and the Department of Education and training, has become a meaningful playground for primary and junior high school students in the locality.

Five months later after the launching date, the organizer has received some 4,008 paintings from a total of 38 schools across the province, including 1,699 ones made by elementary students and 2,309 works from junior students. After a process of selection, the Jury has picked up 52 paintings into the final round.

According to Tran Van Dung – Deputy head of the Po Sah Inu Cham tower management board, “This year’s painting entrees show their full concepts on the right topic, natural and simple presentation from every perspective of local heritage, cultural and historical relics, landscape, rituals, traditional festivals of ethnic groups. Additionally, student contestants have carefully selected materials from crayons, wax, water powder, oil paints and sand, rice, beans, etc. to make the paintings more and more lifelike and unique.

Notably, many schools took interest in propagating and guiding their students to take part in the contest. Specifically, Lien Huong 3 Primary School has 365 entries; Le Van Tam Junior high school (Tuy Phong) has 1,080 ones. In the meantime, Binh Hung primary school (Phan Thiet city) bagged the most prizes with 15 ones, followed by Tran Phu junior high school with 8 prizes.

Each painting’ stroke and color scheme unveils the students’ investment, knowledge on cultural fine, daily costumes of the ethnic groups.

Mr. Vo Duc Long – Arts teacher of Binh Hung primary school shared, the painting contest is valuable, meaningful and healthy activity to stimulate students’ creativity, intelligence, critical thinking and aesthetic orientation on local cultural heritages. It also shows the care of the province’s authorities on promoting students’ pride on ethnic trenches and patriotic tradition.

As results, both of two 1st prizes for elementary and junior students portrayed two Cham characters, namely “Cham elderly man” painted by Bui Bao Ngoc (Binh Hung primary school), and “Cham girl” by Truong Viet An of Nguyen Trai junior high school.

Other 4 second prizes, 6 third prizes, and 40 consolation prizes were also given to students at two levels. Those prize-winning paintings will be exhibited at Po Sah Inu cham tower to introduce the local cultural history, image of Binh Thuan’s people and land to all visitors.
