BTO - On the evening of August 23, the Steering Committee for the campaign “Fostering students on their studying paths” (Tiep Buoc cho em den truong) in Binh Thuan Province held a ceremony to receive donations for the Scholarship Fund and to award scholarships for program in 2024, at the Provincial Conference Center.

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Dang Hong Sy - Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Thi Thuan Bich - Provincial Party Committee member, Deputy Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Council; Nguyen Minh - Provincial Party Committee member, Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for the “Fostering students on their studying paths” campaign. The ceremony was also attended by representatives of leaders from departments, agencies, enterprises that participated in supporting the fund, and students who received scholarships.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee – Nguyen Minh affirmed: In recent years, with the concern and direction of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People’s Committee, the “Fostering students on their studying paths” campaign has had a widespread impact throughout society, with an increasing number of organizations, philanthropists, and people both inside and outside the province participating in support. Especially in 2024, despite the economic and social difficulties, many businesses and philanthropists have made great efforts to continue contributing valuable support to the campaign.

From this precious assistance, thousands of students have been supported materially and have gained significant motivation to overcome difficulties in life, continue their studies, and this assistance has also contributed to the efforts of the Party committees, local authorities, and the education sector to effectively implement solutions aimed at reducing the dropout rate and improving the overall quality of education. Specifically, the number of students dropping out in the three levels of general education for the 2023 - 2024 school year has continued to decrease to 540 students (accounting for 0.23%).

On this occasion, the Steering Committee for the “Fostering students on their studying paths” campaign directly awarded 86 scholarships to students. These meaningful scholarships will create conditions for them to continue their journey to school, become useful members of society, and contribute to the glory of their homeland and the country.

It is known that the 2024 - 2025 school year marks the 14th year of the implementation of the “Fostering students on their studying paths” campaign in Binh Thuan Province. To date, the campaign has received strong support from a large number of officials, people, organizations, businesses, philanthropists, and overseas Vietnamese both inside and outside the province, with a total amount of nearly 400 billion VND (including in-kind donations).

From this amount, scholarship funds at all levels have promptly awarded scholarships to over 570,000 poor but studious students; rewarded more than 700,000 excellent students; provided learning materials for students and supported teachers facing difficulties; and assisted in repairing dilapidated schools and classrooms.

In 2023 alone, the Steering Committee for the campaign at all levels in the province has reviewed and awarded 7,523 scholarships with a total amount of over 14.8 billion VND. It is expected that in the 2024 - 2025 school year, the entire province will mobilize to award 2,700 “Fostering students on their studying paths” scholarships to students from poor, near-poor families, and families in particularly difficult circumstances.
