Completing its performance within 24 seconds, the LF-WAO surpassed seven other
teams to seize victory. It was the second consecutive year a team from Lac Hong
University had won the contest.
The winner will represent Vietnam at the ABU Asia-Pacific Robot Contest (ABU
Robocon) in Mongolia this August.
SKH3 from Hung Yen University of Technology and Education came second, while
third prizes were presented to two teams – Sao Do Legend from Sao Do Hai Duong
University and DCN-DT3 from Hanoi University of Industry.
The 2019 Robocon promotes the idea of “Sharing the knowledge” initiated by host
Mongolia, with its content inspired by the Urtuu system, first innovated by the
nomadic Mongolians for exchanging information over long distances, and by the
Mongolian folk game Shagai, during which players flick animal ankle bones at a
target.
Robocon Vietnam has been held annually by the Vietnam Television (VTV) since
2002.
The ABU Robocon was founded in 2002 by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union. At
the event, robots compete to complete a task within a set period of time.
Vietnam has triumphed at the ABU Robocon seven times. The championships were
claimed by Ho Chi Minh City University of Science and Technology in 2002, 2004
and 2006, while Lac Hong University won in 2014, 2017, and 2018, and Hung Yen
University of Technology and Education took the title in 2015.
