Exotic twin streams in Da Mi

BTO – Skirting the sloping national highway 55 about 60 kilometers from Phan Thiet downtown to Da Mi commune (Ham Thuan Bac district), Da Mi and Ham Thuan lakes are on the left of the road, respectively.

“The water from foggy waterfall flows down and forms into two streams, known as Doi (twin) streams, which run obliquely and pour into Ham Thuan lake. Only few locals know of the existence of those streams because of their awkward position”, said the boatman while taking us around Ham Thuan lake by boat. To approach the streams, we have to cover the road, and then spend 40 minutes more on traveling by boat.

The boat finally drew up the left edge of Ham Thuan lake, followed by Twin streams. The water here is cool and pure. The streams are not higher as the nine-floor waterfall, or not so deep as Da Mi hydropower reservoir, but they are so tranquil and shallow that trekkers can both wade and contemplate the charming scenery with rolling hills at the same time. In the early mornings, we can easily capture the mist from twinkling water surface dissolving in the air. By contrast, the landscape here including space, green treetops, and still water will be covered with red sunset in late afternoons, creating a wonderful and romantic spectacle for sightseers.
