The official was speaking at the 7th Patriotic Congress of the education sector, held by the Ministry of Education and Training in Hanoi on September 23.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, as well as the Central Committee for Emulation and Commendation, Vice President Thinh praised the achievements of the education sector while hailing the dedicated and responsible teachers along with students who have made efforts to overcome difficulties to study well.

Affirming that education and training has an important role for the sustainable development of any country, she stated that the Vietnamese Party and State have always given top priority to educational development.

The official noted that after six years of implementing Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW on comprehensive innovation of education and training, the legal corridor for the sector’s reform has been gradually completed, while the renewal of curriculum and textbooks has been actively implemented, combined with increasingly practical and more effective renewal of teaching methods, exams, and assessments. For the first time, there are three Vietnamese higher education institutions named in the list of 1,000 best universities in the world, while seven others are within the top 500 in Asia.

The vice president suggested that in the near future, educational officials, teachers and students need to be more determined in implementing policies of the Party and State on educational development, while promoting the leading role of the sector in the national development and reform as well as international integration.

She urged the education sector to continue synchronously renovate its objectives, educational programmes and training methods, in addition to paying more attention to political and ethic education for students and arousing their creativeness and aspirations for self-reliance and national pride.

It is necessary to continue the spread of patriotic emulation movements and campaigns among the sector in association with promoting the study and following of President Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, the official stated.
