Belgium’s University mulls on dragon fruit cooperation with Binh Thuan

BTO – The Department of Sciences and Technology welcomed Professor Eric HAUBRUGE – Deputy Rector of the University of Liège, Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech (the Kingdom of Belgium) to exchange information and potential for dragon fruit cooperation in 2017. Since that date, the two parties have frequently exchanged information and documents relating Binh Thuan dragon fruit in preparation for project formation.

A fact-finding tour in Binh Thuan

Among the three projects that the University of Liège carried out in Vietnam, there is 1 project conducting in Binh Thuan province under the name “Innovation in disease  control in association with management and improvement of the use of by-product in dragon fruit cultivation. The project’s strategy aims at contributing to developing Agriculture sustainably, actively, safely for the sake of exporting markets. In the meantime, the project also helps to boost local socioeconomic development and environment.

In mid July, the Binh Thuan Department of Sciences and Technology has collaborated with the Belgian experts to discuss on disease on dragon fruit in Ho Chi Minh City. Currently, the Department of Sciences and Technology is completing procedures for the cooperation. The cooperation is expected to provide safe, fresh and eco-friendly dragon fruit to markets domestically and internationally.
