BTO- At 5:35 pm on July 13, the Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant (Vinh Tan commune-Tuy Phong district-Binh Thuan province) has successfully put its turbine unit 2 into the national power grid, 32 days ahead of schedule. The event marks an important step towards finishing trial operation of the unit, putting it into use at the end of 2017 and fully operating the whole construction work in mid-2018.
Environmental protections systems such as: Flue Gas Desulphurization (FGD) system, Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) system, water treatment system …have operated simultaneously with the boiler, ensuring safety for the environment during the test time as well as official operation (without polluted emission).
The plant, invested by EVN with a total investment capital of more than VND 36,700 billion, is one of key projects of the Vietnam Government under the management of Vinh Tan Thermal Power Management Board. The project, which includes 2 turbine units with the total installed capacity of 1,200MW, is the first coal-fired thermal power plant using supercritical steam parameter boilers in Vietnam. The DMPP consortium of contractors including Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Corporation (South Korea), Mitsubishi (Japan), Power Engineering Consulting JSC 2 (PECC 2). Pacific Corporation (Vietnam) is the project’s general contractor. The Power Engineering Consulting JSC 3 (PECC 3) and a foreign auxiliary consulting company (Tractebel-Engie) have provided consulting and supervision services during the construction process. Vinh Tan 4 Thermo Power plant is expected to contribute 7.2 billion kWh of electricity per year to the national power grid, ensuring power supply for socioeconomic development in the southern region.
