First launched in 2007, the APIO is an online contest for students in the Asian and Western Pacific Region countries and territories, which evaluates contestants’ capacities on the design of efficient, correct algorithms. This year’s contest was hosted by Australia, drawing 164 entrants.

Last year, Vietnam won one gold, two silver and three bronze medals at the event hosted by the Republic of Korea from May 7-8.
