Many of them obtained the doctoral degrees in science-technology, engineering, mathematics, agriculture and health, and returned home to contribute to the country, Vinh said at the foundation’s last gathering in the US’s Arlington city on March 22 – 24.

Praising the VEF’s contributions to the Vietnam-US ties, the diplomat affirmed education is always a key sector in bilateral cooperation and expected that VEF members will continue promoting the relations through networking and initiatives.

In her speech, VEF Executive Director Sandy Dang stressed the meeting aimed at not only reviewing the fund’s achievements in 15 years but also seeking ways to build on these outcomes and promote VEF initiatives and links among its alumni in order to contribute to Vietnam – US educational ties.

In 2000, The VEF was established by the US Congress under the Vietnam Education Foundation Act. Since 2003, it had worked to support Vietnamese students in purchasing higher education in the US.
