The project, which is expected to be situated at Son My 1 Industrial park (Son My commune-Ham Tan district), has a combined power output of 3,000 megawatts (two phases). Natural gas is the cleanest burning fossil and the increased use of this natural gas can significantly improve local air quality and public health as well as reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. Initially, the proposal of building Son My 3&4 LNG power center has received positive reviews from departments and agencies in Binh Thuan province. According to assessment of department of Industry and Trade, the implementation of this project is suitable for the orientations of socioeconomic development and the planning on gas-related industry as well as gas-powered projects in Binh Thuan province.
Speaking at the meeting, vice chairman Luong Van Hai emphasized that the provincial authorities have given a go-ahead to T&T Group to carry out necessary work to implement this project. He urged the company to cooperate with functional bodies and localities in Binh Thuan to prepare files to seek the approval of the provincial People’s Committee.
