Delegates joined many forums and discussions on a variety of issues, such as: the important role of community based tourism on sustainable tourism development; real situation and potential for the development of this model in Binh Thuan; solutions to the effective development of community based tourism; models of community based tourism set up in line with the locality’s potential and advantages; international experiences in community based tourism… Mr. Ngo Minh Chinh-director of provincial Department of Culture-Sports and Tourism emphasized that besides the current tourism products associated with sea sports and coastal resorts, community based tourism model will contribute to diversifying tourism products and effectively exploiting other native features, namely: fishery, crafts, dragon farms, cultural customs of sea and island as well as Vietnamese countryside.
According to Prof. Dr. Huynh Quoc Thang, Binh Thuan should focus on a number of important solutions, as follows: promoting cultural tourism basing on natural characters of sea and island; developing tourism in association with marine ecology of Binh Thuan province; strengthening and improving the quality of human resources for the sustainable development of community-based tourism.
Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho from HCM city University of Social Sciences and Humanities shared that as many products of community based tourism in countries with developed tourism sector, Binh Thuan has sufficient conditions and potential to develop this tourism model, with a series of eligible tours, such as: visiting Bau Trang (White Lake) in combination with experiencing traditional craft trade villages of the Cham community; doing sightseeing on Ca Ty river plus learning life-style of coastal citizens on fishing boats; visiting night market in Phan Thiet city; a trip to Binh Thuan with a stop for tourists to take a look at a dragon fruit garden; tour on Po Sah Inu Cham tower to learn about the history and culture of the Cham community in Binh Thuan; religious tourism tour in the relics of Thay Thim palace and Ta Cu mountain …
Speakers and experts at the seminar also contributed their opinions about possible solutions to community based tourism models basing oneself on the local advantages and potentialities towards sustainable tourism development. The event wrapped up on the same day with remarkable success as expected, completed a scientific research on setting up a model of community-based tourism and put it into practice with desired effect, contributing to diversifying tourism products of Binh Thuan province.
