The event took place within two days with the participation of 31 31 surfers from 13 countries and territories such as the UK, France, Russia, Estonia, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Thailand and Vietnam. They competed in a 3,200-metre downwind slalom race for men and women’s professional categories.
Besides the diversification of sporting services for international and domestic tourists to Binh Thuan, the competition aims at promoting the local tourism image, asserting the Vietnam’s position in the map of international windsurfing.
Koshkin Maksim from Russia triumphed in the men’s category while his compatriot Anna Sagulenko won first place in the women’s category.Ham Tien-Mui Ne beach’s blustery wind condition has made the site become an ideal place for world-class windsurfing. The competition, the 20th of its kind so far, was expected to develop Vietnam’s windsurfing while promoting Binh Thuan province as a national tourism and sea sport tourism.
