BTO - On the afternoon of September 29, in Phan Thiet city, the final match of the 76th World Individual Carom 3-Cushion Billiards Championship took place, featuring an intense and exciting showdown between two players: Cho Myung-Woo (South Korea, ranked 5th in the world) and Tran Thanh Luc (Vietnam, ranked 21st in the world). Fans witnessed a spectacular and high-level match.

As expected by the audience, the so-called “prodigy” of billiards, Cho Myung-Woo, had a strong start and maintained his form throughout the match with confident and precise shots. The final concluded with an 11-point series in the 20th turn from Cho Myung-Woo. He decisively defeated Tran Thanh Lực with a score of 50-23, officially claiming the championship in a convincing manner. Although Trần Thanh Lực made some impressive breakthroughs, showcasing beautiful and emotional shots for the fans, he was unable to close the gap.

Cho Myung-Woo received the champion’s prize of 40,000 Euros. The runner-up, Trần Thanh Lực, received a prize of 20,000 Euros. Eddy Merckx (Belgium) and Dick Jaspers (Netherlands) shared third place, each receiving 12,000 Euros.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Farouk Barki, President of the World Billiards Federation, stated: “We are truly happy to be here in Binh Thuan right now. After five days of exciting competition, the World Individual Carom 3-Cushion Billiards Championship has officially concluded. The tournament was organized by the World Carom Billiards Federation, the Vietnam Billiards & Snooker Federation, and Binh Thuan province, attracting 48 top players from 26 countries, including South Korea, Japan, Turkey, Belgium, Spain, and more. Vietnam had seven players participating in the competition.

According to the organizers, the World Individual Carom 3-Cushion Billiards Championship had a high level of professional quality, attracting many top-level athletes to participate. The players delivered exciting and intense matches for the audience, showcasing the artistic aspects of the game of carom 3-cushion billiards.

This is the first time the World Individual Carom 3-Cushion Billiards Championship has chosen Vietnam and Binh Thuan province as its inaugural host. The tournament not only served as a platform for top billiards talents but also provided an opportunity for fans to enjoy beautiful and artistic shots in the world of billiards.
