The plan is a significant step to concentrate the whole political system in taking solutions to prevent, minimize and stop local fishing vessels and fishermen from illegal fishing in foreign waters; basically change in awareness and sense of responsibility of the whole society, particularly the fishermen community for stopping IUU fishing, and maintaining fishery sector by understanding responsible and sustainable fishing.
Accordingly, the provincial People’s Committee strongly asked the authorities at all levels and functional bodies, particularly Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the provincial Border Guard Headquarters, provincial police, people’s Committees of coastal district/city/town to review all guiding documents of the Prime Minister and central agencies over the implementation of urgent tasks and solutions in response to EU’s warning of IUU fishing. Basing on the Government’s guiding documents, functional departments and units will take responsibilities for the implementation of the content of PPC’s action plan in order to get the EU’s “yellow card” warning removed, facilitate Vietnamese seafood exported to the EU markets. The authorities at all levels are asked to quickly build their own plan to deploy the provincial action program.
