The Party chief hailed the Vice Chairman and the Chinese high-ranking delegation to Viet Nam for the fourth Viet Nam-China Border Defense Friendship Exchange. He also praised the outcomes of talks between the two sides, regarding this as an effective measure to concretize common awareness of Vietnamese and Chinese senior leaders; consolidate mutual understanding and political confidence.
The Party leader highlighted the positive significance of exchanges between the two armies, calling on the two sides to implement the signed agreements and uphold the effectiveness of cooperative mechanisms, friendly exchanges and cooperation among border and maritime forces, national defense dialogues; and early concretize fields of cooperation which were mentioned at the statement on joint vision on defense cooperation until 2025. Mr. Trong stressed that Viet Nam always attaches importance to the traditional and friendly neighborliness with China. He also recommended the two sides work to implement the common awareness and agreements which were reached by senior country leaders; reinforce political trust; and beef up cooperation to preserve peace and stability in the East Sea on the basis of respective benefit and compliance of international law.
In reply, Vice Chairman General Fan Changlong briefed his host about the recent talks with Vietnamese Defense Minister Ngo Xuan Lich. The guest leader asserted that the Party, Government, and army of China always respect the traditional and friendly ties with Viet Nam and treasure the comprehensive strategic partnership. The Chinese army is determined to shake hands with the Vietnamese partner to seriously implement the signed agreements and contribute to nurturing the bilateral ties.
The same day, Gen. Ngo Xuan Lich, Politburo member, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defence of Vietnam and Sen. Lieut. Gen. Fan Chang Long, Politburo member and Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of China held talksto review the outcomes of cooperation between the two armies in the recent past and agree upon the contents and measures of cooperation in the time ahead to effectively implement the statement on joint vision on defense cooperation until 2025 that was signed in January 2017. Following the talks, Mr. Lich and Mr. Fan signed a cooperation agreement on personnel training between the Defense Ministries of Vietnam and China.
General Lich and Senior Lieutenant General Fan will co-chair activities within the fourth Viet Nam-China border defense friendship exchange program that will be held in Viet Nam’s northern border province of Lai Chau and Yunnan province of China from June 20-22./.
