VN, Russia vow to further strengthen comprehensive strategic partnership

State President Tran Dai Quang and Russian PM Dmitry Medvedev affirmed their determination to further lift up the Viet Nam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership to new heights during their meeting in Moscow on Thursday.

State President Quang asserted that Viet Nam always attaches importance and gives priority to strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia.
The State President went on to say that Viet Nam regards Russia as one of its top partners and highly appreciated the two countries’ political ties, especially the close cooperation between the Viet Nam Communist Party and the United Russia Party chaired by Dmitry Medvedev.

He asked the two Governments to collaborate closely to effectively deploy the Viet Nam-Eurasian Economic Union free trade agreement and take measures to facilitate the two-way trade exchanges.The Vietnamese leaders also called for mutual support to realize joint projects, especially in the fields of oil and gas, energy, auto and milk production. The two sides highlighted positive progresses in defense-security, science and technology, education and training, culture, and tourism cooperation over the past time.

State President Quang took the occasion to extend sincere thanks to Russian competent agencies in creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese to live and work in Russia. Meanwhile, PM Medvedev highly valued Viet Nam’s role in Southeast Asia, affirming that Russia always sees Viet Nam as one of its priority partners in Asia-Pacific.

He noted that the bilateral relationship has advanced positively in all areas, wishing that the two Governments would double efforts to boost economic and investment ties while actively seeking measures to fully grasp the opportunities of the free trade agreement.

Both sides expressed their pleasure at their effective coordination at multilateral forums, including APEC. PM Medvedev affirmed that Russia supports and is ready to work with Viet Nam to ensure the success of the APEC Year in Viet Nam, especially the APEC economic leaders’ week in November.
