Especially, to make crocodile curry, firstly, the cooks choose the meat from the crocodile’s front hock or hind hock, then mix it with seasoning, curry powder, choped citronella and onion. Second, they stew the mixture of crocodile meat and coconut water until it is nearly done, they add potatoes into the pot and cook well. It is wonderful to eat this meal with bread and a kind of sauce consists of pepper, salt and lemon juice.
The restaurant’s owner, Mr. Nguyen Dang Thanh said that crocodile meat is high in protein but low in fat with a rich nutritional composition. Crocodile meat provides a lot of benefit for human health so it has become a popular dish of foreign diners. Consequently, since 2011,Vietnam Home restaurant has started to serve crocodile specialties in order to attract both Vietnamese and foreign gourmet. Initially, the restaurant only held crocodile buffet on every Thursday with a whole crocodile weighing tens of kilos. But due to the increasing number of customers, diners has been served crocodile fresh meat biweekly (on Thursday and Sunday) since the end of 2012. Crocodile meat is prepared into 19 delicious dishes, there are growing number of diners come to the restaurant to try these unique dishes. The restaurant sometimes welcomes 300 guests, mostly from Russia, South Korea, China and Vietnam.
Besides crocodile cuisine, Vietnam Home restaurant also serves seafood and Vietnamese traditional dishes, as well as specialties of Phan Thiet with reasonable prices. The guests are also attracted by the restaurant’s airy space, experienced and enthusiastic staffs.
