Many local dishes were honored by the Vietnam Book of Records (Vietkings) including: Binh Thuan dragon fruit, lau tha, Phan Thiet fish sauce, half-dried squid, banh canh cha ca (fish cake), banh hoi long heo (steamed rolls made of rice-flour served with pig’s inner organs), banh quai vac, banh can, and so forth.
The pride is much more when the two dishes of Binh Thuan, including “Lau tha” and “half-dried squid” were listed among Vietnam’s Top 100 typical food specialties from 2011 to 2016 by the Vietnam Book of Records. (Under the Decision No. 011/KLVN-TOP/2016 on the establishment of Vietnam’s Top 100 typical dishes).
Hopefully, the recognition would help food specialties and much more travel information of Binh Thuan to reach the locals, domestic and foreign visitors closer and closer.
