BTO-The provincial Red Cross Society  in collaboration with Binh Thuan Electricity Company on April 7 held a ceremony in response to All-People  Blood Donation Day (April 7) 2021, with the messages “Safe blood donation- don’t  be afraid of Covid-19”, “Thousands hearts as one heart”.

The event, which had the attendance of leaders of departments, branches, agencies, organizations, as well as the participation of officials and employees of  Binh Thuan Electricity Company, is a meaningful activity to save lives of needy people, especially very young patients. Mr. Dang Ngoc Thien-chairman of the provincial Red Cross Society praised voluntary blood donors while encouraged others to engage in blood donation movements to contribute to saving more people.

According to the Vietnam  Bank of Blood, hospitals nationwide need about 1.8 millions of blood units each year, but donated blood only makes 53% of the total demand. In Binh Thuan, medical facilities need about 6,000 blood units for emergency use and treatment for patients in severe conditions.

After the ceremony, over 200 official, workers from Binh Thuan Electricity Company actively donated blood. The event is expected to collect an estimate of 167 blood units for patients in Binh Thuan General Hospital.

Voluntary Blood Donation Campaign, which is an annual charity activity towards the community health, aims to raise awareness of officials, civil servants and youth about the meaning of blood donation. Each drop of blood is a precious gift that anyone can give  to another person with specific conditions. Donating blood can not only save the lives of other people, but also benefits donor’s physical health.
