Quyet Chien and Dick Jaspers are set to compete for the title of the world’s best 3-cushion carom player of the year

The Sharm El Sheikh World Cup 2024 in Egypt, taking place from December 1–7, is likely to be one of the most important tournaments in Quyet Chien’s career. This is the opportunity for him to become the world’s best 3-cushion carom billiards player of the year, even though he is currently ranked second on the leaderboard. This tournament will not only showcase a showdown between the world’s top two stars but will also be a battle for the championship prize of €16,000 (approximately 427 million VND). Furthermore, it is a direct contest for the “Player of the Year” title, awarded by the World Carom Federation (UMB), along with a prize worth €30,000 (over 800 million VND).

At present, Quyet Chien and Dick Jaspers are tied with 248 points in the Player of the Year rankings. This means the player who advances further in the Sharm El Sheikh World Cup will claim the title. Thus, the final World Cup of 2024, held from December 1–7 in Egypt, will determine the prestigious title between Quyet Chien and Dick Jaspers. Fans of 3-cushion carom worldwide are eagerly anticipating this thrilling showdown between the two stars.

For those who are fans of Quyet Chien, they all hope he performs well in this tournament, as a victory would help him achieve numerous goals. The most beautiful ending we could dream of is for Quyet Chien to triumph at the Sharm El Sheikh World Cup, claiming the full prize of €46,000 (equivalent to 1.2 billion VND) along with the title of Player of the Year. It would be the most wonderful dream, one that only Quyet Chien can turn into reality, bringing joy to his fans and pride to Vietnamese sports.

Tran Quyet Chien clinched the title at the Billiards Carom 3-Cushion Lux Pro Cup 2024 in Bình Dương.

Born on February 3, 1984, Tran Quyet Chien is a 3-cushion carom billiards player who has won the World Cup four times, organized by the World Billiards Federation in 2018, 2023, and twice in 2024. He is currently Vietnam’s top player and holds the world’s number two ranking. Quyet Chien’s fans admire him not only for his “magical” shots but also for his patriotic spirit and national pride.

In September 2023, Quyet Chien made headlines for his decision to withdraw from a tournament in Shanghai organized by the UMB in collaboration with the Chinese Billiards & Snooker Federation. The reason was that the clips shown at the venue displayed a map of China featuring the nine-dash line, but during the match, due to his intense focus and his seating position with his back to the screen, Quyet Chien did not realize it. Upon noticing the details, Quyet Chien immediately consulted his coach and decided to leave.

Although the UMB president suggested issuing a mild explanation to the organizers, Quyet Chien declined. His decision earned widespread support from fans and was highly praised as a demonstration of “citizen responsibility and national pride.”

Quyet Chien will begin competing in the Sharm El Sheikh World Cup on December 5. With full trust and admiration for Quyet Chien, we Vietnamese wish our top billiards player success in the final tournament of 2024, hoping that glory will shine upon his name.
