This biennial tournament has been organized since 2015 for U18 athletes in Asia. At the 4th competition (2021), which was postponed until 2022 due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, athletes competed for medals in 40 categories. In day 2 (October 14), Hoang Thi Anh Thuc, 17, excellently performed in the girls’ 400 meter-run final and finished the first in 55:03 seconds, surpassing 6 other opponents from India, Thailand and Iraq to gain the gold medal, the second gold medal for Vietnamese squad. The first gold medal was made by a 16-year-old girl Nguyen Khanh Linh (from Ha Nam) in the first day of the competition. The timing 55: 03 second has been the best performance of young girl Hoang Thi Anh Thuc, as she achieved 54:64 seconds at a national youth athletics competition.
Reportedly, apart from two gold medals of Thuc and Linh, Vietnam also bagged 1 bronze medal in girls’ high jump (by Bui Thi Kim Anh from Nam Dinh), totally winning 3 medals at the tournament.
