PM Pham Minh Chinh attends groundbreaking ceremony for Son My 1 IP in Binh Thuan

BTO-Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on August 30 attended a groundbreaking ceremony for the Son My 1 Industrial Park in Ham Tan district-Binh Thuan province, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the province’s re-establishment and the 77th anniversary of National Day.

The event also had the presence of vice State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, vice chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong, along with representative leaders of ministries and central agenices. With regard to the local authorities, there were Mr. Duong Van An-Secrectary of the provincial Party Committee cum head of the provincial delegation of National Assemly’s deputies, Mr. Nguyen Hoai Anh-standing deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee cum Chairman of the provincial People’s Council, Mr. Le Tuan Phong-Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, leaders of departments/branches and agencies, and Ham Tan district.

Invested by the Son My Industrial Park Investment Construction and Trading Infrastructure Co. Ltd (IPICO), the park covers a total area of 1,070ha in Ham Tan district. The project is not only one of major industrial parks in Vietnam, but also orients to be built as the first smart and eco-friendly IP in the south central coastal region and Binh Thuan province. Its infrastructure network is comprehensively invested with international standards, advanced technology meeting cateria for CO2 emissions. The highlight of Son My 1 IP is the construction of Son My 1 and Son My LNG plants covering a total area of 200 ha with a combined capacity of 4,500MW.

Speaking at the event, PM Chinh emphasized that Binh Thuan, with blue sea, white sand and yellow sunshine, has huge potential in development of solar and wind power. He urged local authorities to take advantage of these potentialities to boost the development of green and clean agriculture. PM Chinh also asked the investor to seriously comply with the law, ensure the safety of the work, environmental standards and complete the project on schedule. According to PM, Son My 1 IP should give priorities to attracting investment in green and renewable energy, manufacture and processing. He said that Binh Thuan’s authorities should also pay attention to human resources training in service of the IP and issue transparent mechanisms to prevent negative acts. The Government will continue standing side by side with the investor to complete this important project, he said.

Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Le Tuan Phong, in response to PM Chinh’s words, pledged that the locality would strictly consider related issues in order to get the best results. At the same time, Mr. Phong also confirmed that the authorities and departments of Binh Thuan province would direct the provincial management of IPs, investor and concerning agencies to implement investment procedures in line with the laws, ensuring the project’s rate of progress and quality to contribute to the province’s socio-economical development and job arrangement.
