Pacific Group made surveys on Son My International Port project

BTO – The Pacific Group Joint Stock Company has recently arrived in Binh Thuan province to conduct a survey on their earlier investment in Son My international port project. Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Le Tuan Phong hosted the Group’s representatives.

Under the province’s policies on research and surveys, the Pacific Group has been allowed to make a wholly survey on the local conditions of nature, current infrastructure, hydro-meteorological features, transportation around the would-be Son My international Port.

Alongside with the formation of Son My Power complex and Son My 1, 2 Industrial Parks (Ips), the planning of Son My international port is indispensable for adapting the development of local of Ips.

The coming of Son My International Port is expected to lure foreign investment projects to the local Ips, improve its capacity of Logistics and help reduce product prices, enhancing enterprises’ competitiveness.

Representative of Pacific Group proposed the province to report its investment project to the Ministry of Transport so that it can be added to the Vietnam’s port system planning and Specific Planning of Group of Port no.4.

On the other hand, Pacific Group raised their wishes to set up planning proposal on the construction of Son Mu International Port as well as other following procedures.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman Phong confirmed the necessity of Son My International Port planning for the local socioeconomic development. However, he advised the Pacific Group to check their planning areas carefully so that it can avoid overlapping with other projects’ areas.

According to the Pacific Group, the would-be port covers an area of 154.28 hectare in Son My commune, Ham Tan district. It is projected to welcome the biggest vessel with a capacity of 50.000 DWT.
