NA Chairwoman works with Ho Chi Minh City-based National University

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan paid a working visit to the Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) on September 4.

Speaking at the meeting, NA Chairwoman Ngan praised the results achieved by VNU-HCM over the past 20 years.

In the last five years, the university has had more than 18,800 scientific articles published in international and national journals and at conferences. With a staff of more than 1,200 doctors, professors, associate professors and generations of talented students, the NA leader urged the university to continue to uphold its tradition and affirm its leading role in the national education system.

She also encouraged the VNU-HCM to attract social resources for its development and further expand ties with foreign partners to improve the quality of teaching and learning.

The university should continue to create favourable conditions for lecturers, scientists and students to engage in scientific research and the development and application of technology to production and the business activities of enterprises, as well as to share experience with renowned universities and colleges in the region and around the world, she noted.

During her working visit, the NA Chairwoman met and talked with students on the theme of “The Role of Universities in Building a Law-Governed Socialist State in the New Situation”.

The VNU-HCM groups six member universities; the University of Technology, the University of Science, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Ho Chi Minh City International University, the University of Information Technology, the University of Economics and Law; the Institute of Environment and Natural Resources; and the Faculty of Medicine, along with more than 30 affiliate members.
