The project, which is invested under the BOT contract (Build-Operate-Transfer) with a total capital of nearly USD 5 billion, is expected to boost the demands for import of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the US to nearly USD 2 billion each year.
As reported, Son My 2 Gas Power plant is part of a combined project of three gas-fired power plants in Ham Tan district (including Son My 1, Son My 2 and Son My 3), with a total designed capacity of 4,000 MW. The plant is estimated to use 600,000 tons of LNG and become operational in the next 5 years.
Earlier, the provincial People’s Committee of Binh Thuan province has granted MoU on investment pledge to AES Corp at an Investment Promotion Conference held in Phan Thiet City in September.
